Let me start by saying... I’ve never been the “golf type.” You know the vibe... buttoned-up, country club, everyone knows what they’re doing. So when I signed up for a beginner class at PGA Frisco, I was half-expecting to embarrass myself or at least feel completely out of place. But I did it anyway.

For just $30, I joined a one-hour intro session designed for first-timers like me. And I mean true beginners. I'd never even held a golf club before. I was nervous walking in, but the atmosphere was super chill and welcoming, which helped ease my nerves almost instantly.

We started with the basics: how to hold the club, how to stand, and how to hit those short chip shots. The instructor was patient and encouraging, which made all the difference. And here’s the wild part. I wasn’t terrible! I mean, I definitely wasn’t ready for the PGA Tour, but I wasn’t the disaster I thought I’d be either.

By the end of the hour, I was genuinely having fun. I even caught myself smiling every time I hit the ball just right. I left feeling more confident, a little sore (lol), and honestly proud of myself for stepping out of my comfort zone. Golf still feels like a fancy sport to me, but now it also feels possible. Approachable. Even fun. And that beginner session! It was the perfect way to dip my toes in without the pressure.

So if you've ever been curious about trying something new, especially something that seems a little intimidating, this is your sign. Take the swing. You might just surprise yourself too.
